The 'Vintage Dean Collection' includes guitars manufactured between 1977 and 1987. Look for a distinctive serial number located on the back of the headstock. Dean guitars made in the United States have a seven-digit serial number. The first two numbers indicate the year the guitar was manufactured. - If the serial number of your Kramer starts with the following serial numbers, it is NOT a USA Made or 'American' series Kramer: 1) Two letters followed by a serial number (e.g. AA1234, AC1234, FA1234, FC1234, SA1234) 2) One letter followed by five letters (e.g. B12345) The only exception to this would be some of the 'E' series neckplates did have one letter followed by five letters (e.g.
- I have a guy wanting to trade me a Dean for one of my Jacksons. Problem is, he says it is a Dean Vendetta 3.0, and the only guitar I can find that looks like the one he has, is a cheap Dean Vendetta XM.
He has provided the serial number but I cant find anywhere I can look up the serial number to find out any info on it.

try making a post on the Dean board - lots of knowledgeable folks.
For the most part - the USA models will have 'Made in the USA' with YY - SERIAL on the back of the headstock. In the late 90's (1996 I believe) the serial #'s for the USA models were stamped on the fret board after the last fret.
There are Czech Republic guitars that will have Hand Crafted in the Czech Republic on the back of the headstock with a serial # (nothing to denote year.)
The Korean and Chinese guitar serials for the most part don't give a year or any other indication. They did start putting a year # somewhere in them, but they are imports and the year really doesn't matter for their worth.
There were some bolt on USA and Czech models. Not many.
EDIT -
Vendetta 3.0 information (serial # will not be different between import models)

I seen where my membership/log in was just approved on the Dean boards so I will be posting something there in a few minutes.
Im starting to think this is going to be all for naught though. I think I pissed the guy off when I told him I thought his guitar looked a hell of a lot like the Dean Vendetta XM model.
He exploded right away with, 'Well, if it is indeed the XM, what do I have to add to make this an even trade?'
I answered, 'A real guitar man! Im sorry but I just DO NOT like basswood guitars. If it is not the Vendetta 3.0, Im not interested.'
Havent heard from him since... - I am a 4.0 owner
the 3.0 has the neck through and the solid color.
The 4.0 had the quilt and maple cap.

- I'm sure Dean himself checks every single guitar before it comes off a mass production line in China..
Your either smoking crack or lying if you think the quality is lower than Dean Guitars.
C. The reason DBZ Guitars are kicking ass is that the guitars are killer quality and are under the complete control of Dean himself.Ibanez V300 Acoustic

- i have come to the conclusion that he is some form of god. no mere mortal has that many guitars/pedals/amp/anything. 'It boggles my mind. His collection is the most glorious and true expression of GAS.To each his own though. Amazing collection of beauties. It takes some seriously messed up OCD to compile a collection like that.I hate BBreaker. Damn, I hate him.Suck it.We learned that bbreaker is some sort of god. A god of whine.fk this guy.

- Here is a review of the Bolero. The same guy did a Soltero review which is linked.

In general I like the looks of the DBZ line. I think the Bolero in Walnut is gorgeous.__________________

- I really like my Imperial. The fact that I got it at an end of the year close out, and it's a first year model, really impressed me. I wanted something like a solid body 335, and this does just fine. Some may not like the soft V neck, but once you get used to it, you may even prefer it. Not a fan of the silly top slant mound input jack.
- I'd like to see one in person. I still don't believe they exist although some of those custom shop imperials look nice.________________________________________

OK, let's get a few facts in order. DBZ first started making almost all of their imports in China and had problems. It didn't take long for Dean Zelinsky to yank all the mid-range models from China and send them to World Guitars in Korea(the highest quality Korean guitar manufacturer). This happened about 2 years ago. The low end stuff is still made in China and is as you would expect. The Korean/World Guitars models are excellent, many with Original Floyd Rose trems(no, not the Chinese 'Special') and real EMG 81/85 pickups. I personally own 4 of these guitars and they are excellent, excellent and did I say excellent ? Having a contact with DBZ, I was told that all these Korean models go thru extensive checking and setup at the USA shop. DBZ refuses to do '2nd's', they just won't sell them. The Korean models are great guitars. Just look for a serial number that starts with a 'W'.
Now, onto 2012. Dean Zelinsky was at NAMM 2012 and then something happened. DBZ Inc. filed suit against Dean Zelinsky for breach of contract. That lawsuit was dismissed by the judge. The DBZ Forum has been down for at least 6 months now and nobody seems to know what is going on with DBZ. I have no clue if Dean Zelinsky is still associated with DBZ. Anyone know what's going on ?Batotman: 'I hope whoever puts a bullet in ZW's head gets a free bullseye Les Paul.' - Did play like a Custom Shop guitar to me too Bad only v neck Option.
- In a DICK way. Be nicer. Not calling anyone a liar man, I'm just simply pointing out that I've shown and played these guitars for all my guitar buds and - NO JOKE - they all flipped for these guitars, a couple went out and bought one right away. So maybe liar is harsh, but the integrity from that post just doesn't seem accurate so I call bull****************. That's my opinion. They are pretty rad ass guitars! Try one.Good deals with - Yarbicus, CBH5150, BozzofAngels, Alvin Wilson, Harris Quinn
Oh, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you. - FWIW, I own a Chinese Palomino 390, and it is a really nice guitar considering what I paid for it.
The low end DBZ's are going for under $200 on world music supply. I played one of the DBZ V type ( uber thin, very pointy) and while it is not my type of axe, it was well made, well finished and reasonsbly priced.
The Dean guitar I want is that Guady Mississippi Quenn model. I played it through a THR10 and had a blast.Good deals with - Yarbicus, CBH5150, BozzofAngels, Alvin Wilson, Harris Quinn
