Troubleshooting
Devart ODBC Drivers. Devart ODBC Drivers are high-performance connectivity solutions with enterprise-level features for accessing most popular database management systems and cloud services from ODBC-compliant reporting, analytics, BI, and ETL tools on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, macOS, and Linux. Our ODBC drivers fully support standard ODBC API. OpenEdge 10.2A Setup install process creates registry entries under incorrect Node. In 10.2A functionality was added for 64-bit OpenEdge installs which results in the wownode is not being written to, where in previous versions (10.1B and 10.1C) it is. You need to use ODBC 32 bit to create Excel driver. You could search ODBC in control pane, then choose ODBC 32 bit-System DSN to add corresponding driver, and choose corresponding workbook. Then add datasource in report, choose ODBC connect type and corresponding datasource you create. And type correct query in query designer. Dec 18, 2019 We have had some reports of PCs on which a data source could not be created using the iSeries Access for Windows ODBC driver because, although it is installed, it does not show up in the list of ODBC drivers available in the ODBC Administrator. Existing data sources using the ODBC driver can be used, modified, and saved without any problem though.
Problem
A registry error may cause some ODBC drivers to not be available when creating new data sources.
Resolving The Problem
Caution: This document discusses making changes to the Windows registry with the registry editor, regedit. Before using this tool to make any changes to your registry, back it up, and make certain you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. Consult Microsoft's knowledge base and help system for information on using regedit, regedt32 registry editor programs. |
We have had some reports of PCs on which a data source could not be created using the iSeries Access for Windows ODBC driver because, although it is installed, it does not show up in the list of ODBC drivers available in the ODBC Administrator. Existing data sources using the ODBC driver can be used, modified, and saved without any problem though. Investigation of the problem revealed a problem in the Windows registry which may have been caused by some software setting a specific driver to be the default driver and then resetting it to a blank or empty value. The entry this left in the registry caused every driver installed after that time to not be displayed by the ODBC Administrator.
When this problem is encountered, an export of the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREODBCODBCINST.INIODBC Drivers] typically looks similar to the following:
'SQL Server'='Installed'
'Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)'='Installed'
'Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)'='Installed'
'Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls)'='Installed'
'Microsoft dBase Driver (*.dbf)'='Installed'
'Microsoft Paradox Driver (*.db )'='Installed'
'Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver'='Installed'

'Microsoft ODBC for Oracle'='Installed'

@='
'FileMaker Oracle8 Driver'='Installed'
'FileMaker Text Driver (*.*)'='Installed'
'Client Access ODBC Driver (32-bit)'='Installed'
'iSeries Access ODBC Driver'='Installed'
The entry @=' is the problem. All entries after that fail to be displayed. To correct this problem, do the following:
1. | To start the Windows registry editor, click Start, Run, type regedit, and click OK. |
2. | Navigate to the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREODBCODBCINST.INIODBC Drivers, and click on this key to display the strings it contains. |
3. | At the top of the right pane, you will see an entry named (Default) of type REG_SZ. The Data value for this will be empty or blank rather than (value not set). |
4. | Right-click on the (Default) string, select Delete from the pop-up menu, and press Yes on the confirmation window. |
5. | Press F5 to write the registry changes to disk, and exit the registry editor. |
6. | You may need to reboot your PC before you will be able to create new DSNs using any of the ODBC drivers which were missing. |
Note: This issue has been frequently associated with FileMaker software and ODBC drivers; however, it is not limited to just that software package.
